Psychotherapy

Supporting emotional wellness and mental health in children, teens, and families.

At The Communication Clinic, our registered psychotherapists provide developmentally informed, compassionate care tailored to the needs of children, adolescents, and their families. We help clients understand their feelings, develop coping strategies, and strengthen relationships in a safe, respectful, and affirming space.

Therapy sessions are individualized and may include elements of play, art, cognitive-behavioral strategies, and family collaboration depending on the child’s age and needs.

Children (Ages 4–12)

Children (Ages 4–12)

We help children understand and manage their emotions, develop confidence, and navigate challenges in everyday life. Sessions are engaging, creative, and grounded in the child’s developmental level.

Common areas of focus include:

  • Emotional regulation and “big feelings”
  • Anxiety and worries
  • Behavioural challenges at home or school
  • Separation anxiety and school avoidance
  • Life transitions and family changes
  • Grief and loss
  • Self-esteem and social confidence

Teens & Adolescents (Ages 13–18)

Teens & Adolescents (Ages 13–18)

Adolescence can be a time of great growth — and great stress. We support teens in exploring their identity, relationships, and emotions, while building resilience and healthy coping strategies.

Therapy may support:

  • Anxiety, stress, and low mood
  • Identity and self-worth
  • Peer relationships and social pressures
  • Perfectionism and academic stress
  • Emotional regulation and communication skills
  • Family dynamics and independence

Family Involvement

Family Involvement

Parents are essential partners in a child’s mental health journey. We may offer:

  • Parent coaching and psychoeducation
  • Joint or parent-child sessions
  • Collaboration with schools and other professionals
  • Flexible support tailored to each family’s goals

Neurodiversity-Affirming & Trauma-Informed

Neurodiversity-Affirming & Trauma-Informed

We recognize and respect the diverse ways children and teens experience the world. Our therapists work from a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming lens and are experienced in supporting autistic and ADHD clients, among others.
