Speech-Language Pathology

Helping children and youth connect, express, and thrive.

At The Communication Clinic, our speech-language pathologists (SLPs) support communication at every stage of development.

Every child’s communication journey is different. We support skill development at each stage — from first words to more complex language — in ways that feel natural and meaningful to them.

Young Children

Young Children

We use evidence-based, developmentally appropriate approaches to support early speech and language skills. Services may focus on:

  • Delayed first words or difficulty combining words
  • Understanding language and following directions
  • Building vocabulary
  • Early speech sound development
  • Stuttering (using fluent speech)
  • Play and joint attention
  • Parent coaching to support communication at home

➡️ We also offer the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) for children ages 12–48 months.

School-Aged Children

As children grow, their communication needs become more complex. Therapy at this stage helps build confidence in both academic and social settings.

Services may support:

  • Articulation and speech clarity
  • Grammar, sentence structure, and storytelling
  • Vocabulary development
  • Following complex or multi-step directions
  • Social communication (e.g., taking turns, reading social cues)
  • Problem-solving and flexible thinking
  • Phonological awareness and literacy skills

Teens & Young Adults

  • Executive functioning: planning, organizing, prioritizing ideas

  • Self-advocacy
  • Communication coaching for transitions (e.g., high school to post-secondary)
